International Conference on Special Functions & Applications (ICSFA-2021) - 20th Annual Meeting of the Society for Special Functions & their Applications (SSFA) will be held under the auspices of Department of Mathematics, University of Kerala, India during 22-24 December, 2021 in Online mode. The two days conference aims to bring together the researchers working in the area of Special Functions and related areas for interaction and exchange of ideas. The conference program will include RP Agarwal Memorial Lecture, Invited Talks, a Symposium on Works of Ramanujan and Paper Presentation Session covering a wide range of topics including Special Functions, Hypergeometric function and its generalizations, Orthogonal polynomials, Lie theoretic approach to Special function, Ramanujan Mathematics, Combinatorics, Number theory, q-series and continued fractions, geometric function theory and applications of special functions to Statistics, Physical sciences and Engineering.

All Academic Sessions in the Conference will be held online because of COVID-19 pandemic. The links of Academic Sessions will be shared with all registered participants and invited speakers/guests just before the conference.

About University of Kerala

One of the first 16 Universities in India, the University of Kerala was founded as the University of Travancore in the erstwhile princely state of Travancore (now southern part of Kerala and some neighbouring parts of state of Tamilnadu) in 1937. During the 7 decades since the University of Kerala grew and shrunk physically and transformed itself in many ways. It is difficult to summarise what the Kerala University is in a brief space. The University of Travancore was established in 1937 by a promulgation of the Maharajah of Travancore, Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma who was also the first Chancellor of the University. Sir C. P Ramaswamy Ayyar, the then Diwan (Prime minister) of the State was the first Vice-Chancellor. At present, the University has sixteen faculties and forty one departments of teaching and research in addition to study centres and other departments. Teaching, Research and Knowledge extension are the mandate of the Departments. They primarily focus on post-graduate (masters) programmes, MPhil programmes (1-year research degree) and doctoral research.

The Department of Mathematics came into existence as an independent unit in 1965. Formerly the department of Mathematics was a part of the Department of Statistics and Mathematics. The Department of Statistics and Mathematics is one of the oldest teaching and research Departments of University of Kerala. Its functioning started in 1943 as part of the University of Travancore. The department of Mathematics is one of the prominent departments of the university which imparts quality education right from its inception. The department offers MSc, M Phil and PhD programmes in Mathematics which mainly focus on professional, technical and commercial upliftment of the students. The department is active in research in most areas of pure and applied mathematics covering graph theory, algebra, approximation theory, functional analysis, coding theory, cryptography, mathematical modelling, applied analysis, fractional calculus, integral transforms and special functions.
